In-warehouse route optimization
optiMdepoT was developed as a project that approaches route optimization in warehouse order-picking processes with mathematical methods.
Shorter routes, more efficient warehouses
Warehouse order picking is one of the major components of logistics costs. We believe that choosing the right algorithm can help reduce this cost.
Focus
We make complex optimization problems usable by everyone through simple, easy-to-understand interfaces.
Scientific Foundation
Our algorithms are based on proven route optimization methods from the academic literature: you can run and compare the Optimal, Aisle-by-Aisle and Block-by-Block S-Shape, Nearest Neighbor and Brute Force algorithms. New strategies will be added as well.
Continuous Improvement
The platform is under active development; new algorithms and features are added regularly.

Dr. Mahmut Tutam
Associate Professor · Industrial Engineering, Erzurum Technical University
He received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Gazi University. In 2012, he earned the right to continue his education in the United States with a full scholarship from the Turkish Ministry of National Education; he received his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Arkansas in 2015 and 2018, respectively. During this time, he focused his work on warehouse design problems.
Dr. Tutam received the ISERC "Best Track Paper in Facility Logistics" award in 2015 and 2023, and has given numerous presentations and chaired sessions at the IISE and INFORMS annual conferences. After serving as a postdoctoral researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands, he continues his academic career at Erzurum Technical University.
